Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program

The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is more intensive than traditional outpatient programs, and is designed to achieve short-term stabilization and resolution of immediate problem areas. The patient and family are offered services by a team of professionals. The patient is enrolled in a time-limited program with others working on similar issues. The treatment team may include licensed therapists, nurses, program specialists and a physician.

Our teen outpatient program is offered three days a week after school.

Group session topics address:

  • How to handle stress and anxiety
  • Understanding negative thinking
  • Building self-esteem, overcoming guilt and shame
  • Anger management
  • Dealing with mood swings and depression
  • Establishing boundaries
  • Managing grief, loss and trauma
  • Problem solving and goal setting skills
  • Crisis planning
  • Negative coping and addictive behaviors
  • Self-harm
  • Bullying, including social media
  • Family communication
  • Developing healthy coping skills

Advantages of IOP:

  • Individual lives at home
  • Sessions may be conducted while the individual continues to go to work or school
  • Individual therapy is augmented by group therapies specific to the patient’s needs
  • Frequency of attendance is determined by the individual’s specific needs
  • IOP services are available during the day and evening to accommodate patients’ schedules
  • Transportation accessibility should never act as a barrier to receiving treatment. Call us at 800-777-5722 to discuss transportation options.
