Children, Ages 5-12

Children’s Mental Health Program

Children between ages 5 and 12 with emotional or behavioral problems benefit from group and activity therapies that help develop a positive self-image and healthy social and communication skills. We encourage family members to participate in the process to ensure each child has support beyond our mental health services.

Emphasis is placed on the identification of harmful behaviors and on gaining insight into the emotions behind the actions. Through this discovery process, the patients learn to accept responsibility for their individual behavior and develop healthy modes of interaction with others.

Our treatment program includes:

  • Psychiatric evaluation by a board-certified psychiatrist
  • Psychoeducational groups (medication education, illness education, anger management, coping skills, etc.)
  • Psychosocial assessment
  • Nursing assessment
  • History and physical
  • Dietary consults
  • Individual/family/group therapy
  • Drug/alcohol education
  • Continuing care planning
  • Psychopharmacology

All mental health programs are led by our multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, licensed social workers and licensed professional counselors.
